Dear Diary, This is My Gender Today
Master of Arts in Fashion Major Research Project that studied how arts-based “languages” of self-expression can illuminate one’s understanding of their gender identity, and culminated into a printed and digital zine featuring the extent of the project as executed in Winter 2024. Character Development
Featuring digitally-rendered hand-drawn characters, this piece is an investigation into the elasticity of typography channeled through the use of the first character in my name, "美", meaning "beauty" in Japanese and Chinese. With each iteration drafted, I questioned the boundaries of language, typography, and art, curious as to where this illustration-based inquiry would take me, still ongoing. I invite viewers to openly interpret and imagine what new realities creative explorations of language can form.jump to project

Fourth-year undergrad capstone research project investigating the gaps (or lack thereof) between our online and offline identities from extensive social media use. (2021)Character Development
Character Development is an ongoing project exploring the elasticity of typography through the experimentation and abstraction of the character, “美” – the first character in my name – meaning "beauty" in Japanese and Chinese. This project has acted like Rorschach tests, reinventing the character’s defined meaning through the use of different mediums and colours. Since its conception in 2025, Character Development has continued to evolve and take new shapes with each passing year. Ongoing, different evolutions or series of Character Development are labelled numerically: 2025 will be archived as 1.0, 2026 is 2.0, and works to be created in subsequent years will follow as 3.0, 4.0, etc.
